Tokyo’s Nightlife beyond Roppongi and Shibuya

Tokyo’s Nightlife beyond Roppongi and Shibuya

Have you ever found yourself wanting to go out on a Saturday night but not wanting to commit to clubbing beyond the last train?

Do you often search the internet for “Things to do on a Saturday night in Tokyo” only to have Shibuya and Roppongi show up time and again? Do you wish you could just go to a quieter neighborhood instead?

Don’t worry, you are not alone.

As much as we adore the neon lights and party sights in the nightlife scene in Tokyo, sometimes we just want to go out to enjoy music, art and good conversations, but also be back in bed by 11pm.

Tokyo Nightlife feels like an “All or Nothing” commitment

If you have ever been one to explore going out at night in Tokyo, you might already be familiar with what unspoken costs it comes with.

Since a lot of good clubs open after 11pm, you either have to commit to a literal whole night out and take the first train home the next day, or you take an exorbitantly overpriced taxi home. It is either that or you stay home in your sweats.

In this frenzy, don’t we all want something in-between? Something that offers a mix of high energy music, as well as a room to actually talk to the people we meet.

Tokyo has a very vibrant creative community

With people coming in from all over the world (especially right now), Tokyo’s community has been more vibrant than ever. Japan is practically a buzzword right now.

But what also happens here is everyone is looking down at their phones. On the trains, in restaurants, everywhere. Tokyo is such a fast city, where everyone just has someplace to be.

As we saw this, we realized that there is a gap, and this is where connections seem to be getting lost.

Look up from your phone, look to the side

We figured that if we wanted to see change, we had to start doing things a bit differently. The magic of Tokyo’s community and creative scene cannot just be restricted to the dead of the night, where neon lights hide what everyone has to offer.

This is why we created a space for people to gather right as the evening begins.

Picture this, you walk into a neighborhood like Nihonbashi at a crisp 6pm when the day has finally started to give in to the night. You walk into a venue (neon lights included), where on the ground floor you can grab a drink and buy some trinkets. Then just as you take the stairs up you see complete floors sprawling with art, music and people just coming together to have a good time.

The next thing you know is that you’re chatting up an indie artist about what inspires their work, and can just step into another area where the resident DJ is spinning some cool music for the dance floor. By the time you reach the top floor to catch a view from the rooftop, you have already met so many people from completely different corners of the world with so many unique stories to tell

The best part? You still have time to go home and back in your bed right after.

You bring your stories, we bring the vibes

This is what Tokyo Vibes is all about. We are the in-between for people who like music, art and community. We are quieter than your average club night, and with much more vibes than museums. We are a community of creatives who want to connect over art.

Our events are built around the goal of building connections organically. We start at the brink of the night so that you can get your fill of beats and creative inspiration, and still make that last train at 11:45 completely guilt free.
